On Grid Solar System
The on-grid solar power system is an electricity-generating solar power system that is connected to the utility grid. An on-grid solar system consists of solar panels, inverters, a power conditioning unit, and grid connection equipment. They range from small residential and commercial rooftop systems to large utility-scale solar power stations. When conditions are right, the grid-connected PV system supplies the excess power, beyond consumption by the connected load, to the utility grid.
Off Grid Solar System
Off-grid solar means meeting all your energy needs from the power of the sun with no help from the electrical grid. To make this possible, you need to install a solar power system paired with an energy storage system, like a solar battery, at the site of power consumption (your home). Advances in solar tech over the last decade have made solar equipment more efficient and less expensive, helping to push them into the mainstream. It’s now a common sight to see RVs and country cabins powered by off-grid solar systems.
Hybrid Solar System
A hybrid system is when your solar panels remain connected to the grid’s power lines and have a backup battery system to store excess power. The sun’s energy absorbed by the solar panels goes through an inverter to create usable electricity. From there, electricity either goes to your home, to your battery, or to the grid. The benefit of a hybrid solar system is that you will always have power in any situation. With a backup battery, the excess energy that your solar panels create (but your home does not use), will be stored in this battery. Then, when the sun is not shining, this battery will provide your power during the night, during system blackouts, or during inclement weather.
